Steelhead -- October to May

The weather conditions play a major factor in our Steelhead migration but fishable numbers of Steelhead usually start showing up in October.  Good numbers of fish are spread throughout the river systems by November.  The big and nasty Little Manistee strain of Steelhead start showing up in late November and early December.  In February, March & April you will find peak numbers of Steelhead. 

Bass  -- May thru August

Smallies start to make an appearance in May.  Big, hungry fish from Lake Erie spread throughout the rivers and make an awesome fight on a 5 weight.   This is also a great way to scout rivers for the next Steelhead season!  

Tactics

Fly Fishing is the preferred method but we are not scared to pick up the spinning gear.  Conditions will occasionally dictate which style will catch more fish that day.  First time Fly Fishers are welcome, we have VERY patient guides who will iron out any kinks in your cast.  Catching fish is important but we also want to make you a better fisherman.  Throwing surface flies or streamers will capture the mighty “Bronze” back.  Indicator fishing or swinging streamers are the methods to the madness of Fly Fishing for “Steel”.  All trips are walk in and wading the rivers.

Equipment

All tackle is provided.  Rods and Reels are premium Sage,    G-Loomis, Abel & Ross.   Flies are included, break off all you want, we’ll tie more!  The only gear you need is a pair of waders, rain gear (if necessary) and a fishing license.

This rate includes all equipment except waders, rain gear and a fishing license.  We will fish as long as you want.  No time limits!  We understand sometimes you can’t leave the river when the fish god’s are smiling.   Lunch is included and consists of drinks and sandwiches.  Our guides can only carry so much on their back.
